Great find Kaik. I love this part of it especially:
Meanwhile, Schweitzer’s research has been hijacked by “young earth” creationists, who insist that dinosaur soft tissue couldn’t possibly survive millions of years. They claim her discoveries support their belief, based on their interpretation of Genesis, that the earth is only a few thousand years old. Of course, it’s not unusual for a paleontologist to differ with creationists. But when creationists misrepresent Schweitzer’s data, she takes it personally: she describes herself as “a complete and total Christian.” On a shelf in her office is a plaque bearing an Old Testament verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
So here is a devout Christian whose own scientific research does not contradict her beliefs, and other Christians who rape that research to further their own agenda regarding Young Earth nonsense. Nice.
in response to the 37 threads in my evolution is a fact series - see bottom of op for links - perry posted a link to an article "44 reasons why evolution isn't true".. i offered him a challenge on the thread and by pm.
predictably he is totally ignoring it, so i am offering the challenge to any evolution-denier who thinks they have evidence to support their position.. please present one specific piece of evidence for creationism.. my task will be to refute it with evidence within 24 hours.. then i will present one piece of evidence for evolution and your challenge will be the same.. all posts must be as succinct as reasonably possible.

Increasing people's level of knowledge about the world is a good thing.
Presenting factual information on evolution to those who [are in]/[deciding whether to leave]/[just left] a cult where this information is hidden, distorted and proper research is forbidden, is a good thing.
In some parts of the world people believe having sex with a virgin will cure AIDS if you have that. Telling those people over and over again that their belief is contradicted by the facts and dangerous, is a good thing. Yes, they might not like it. Yes, they might present anecdotal 'evidence' to show they are right. They might argue 'well, it might work so I try just in case'. But at least presenting the correct info to them is a good thing.
It's not like we are knocking on creationists' doors here. There are some threads with information on evolution. Everyone is free to ignore them, read them, or even participate.
Anyone who feels Cofty's threads are in contradiction with their beloved creationist faith can just ignore them and carry on with their day. But anyone who thinks they should litter their creationist misinformation on those threads is fair game. If you're so damn sure about creation, start your own thread and present the information you have. Just don't misrepresent the facts please.

so after almost a year of complete inactivity and non attendance, i ran into a nice brother from the local congregation.. after some nice chit-chat, he says "we really miss you and your family...etc...you were always the kind and supportive one, the approachable and encouraging one in the congregation.
your absence has confused so many".
i thanked him and said "oh no, no individual has stumbled us.
As we all know very well
CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT
And Eve.
And all of us TTATTers out here.

@Rattigan,
Those are bold claims. Do you have any research and evidence to support them?
Anyway, have a look at this page for some contemporary examples of evolution in action: http://listverse.com/2011/11/19/8-examples-of-evolution-in-action/
Pay close attention to number 5. If a change in diet can change jaw size and biting force over some generations, why can't the same happen to the shape of teeth?
I suggest you research evolution from sources other that creationist websites. You'llama be surprised how much sense it actually makes; I know I was.
Remember, almost all of us here used to be die hard creationists. Ever wonder why some of us changed our minds?

@Saved_JW,
Could you please clarify your position on which type if creation is the true story?
Young Earth, Old Earth, Gap, Day-Age, Progressive, Neo?
ID?
Theistic evolution?
it looks like the ability to click on the avatar thumbnails in order to go straight to the most recent posts of a topic is no longer working for me.
is this gone forever or will it be back at some point?
it definitely made navigation much easier, especially for longer threads..
Thanks for bringing this up.
Never knew this feature existed on this forum in the first place (and wondered why not)...it's very convenient:-D

@SBF,
I would. Being a former JW creationist I already once changed my core beliefs and overthrew my whole life based on evidence for JW not being the true religion, and evolution.
I'm not hesitant to change my beliefs based on evidence. It's just that claims re. creation are completely without evidence.
@Landy,
Spot on! I like your way of thinking :-)

Perry,
First, can you state how old you think the earth is? Then at least we know what we're discussing.
Still waiting for an answer.

Do you realize the difference here? I entertain all options (as a true scientist should), whereas you will entertain only a single option. To you it's either your beloved evolution or bust
If the process discussed can not yet be explained by our current knowledge, the correct position would be "we don't know". Claiming that a designer for that process must exist is very much premature unless that designer is proven to exist, or until any and all possible alternative explanations have been proven wrong.
The former has not been done yet, the latter is impossible.
So instead of claiming ID, you should await future discoveries. That is open minded.
I am very much sure that Cofty and all other people who now accept that evolution is supported by incredibly many facts and observations, would change their view as soon as a theory comes along that even better explains all the evidence. But given the fact that there there is currently no evidence that contradicts the theory of evolution, it highly unlikely that that will ever happen.
Also, while Cofty's challenge proves that apparently no creationist here can point to any verifiable evidence that the creation myth is literal truth, being able to cast doubt on our current understanding of how 1 or 2 processes came into existence does not invalidate the theory of evolution as the preferred scientific explanation of all relevant facts we know about. And it certainly does not proves creation must be true.
